Driver
The older of the two Busch brothers won the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series championship, 2017 DAYTONA 500 and 33 Cup races overall, good for 25th all-time as of the start of 2022, driving for teams like Penske, Roush, 23XI, Ganassi and Stewart-Haas. A sometimes fiery temper cost him an occasional ride, but behind the wheel the highly versatile driver had few peers. In addition to his Cup Series success, he competed in the 2014 Indianapolis 500, finishing a stunning 6th in his only IndyCar start and collecting Rookie of the Year honors. Busch also won the 2003 International Race of Champions (IROC) title and finished third at the 2008 Rolex 24 @ Daytona with Ryan Briscoe and inductee Helio Castroneves. One of the relatively few drivers to win races at all three of NASCAR’s premier levels, Busch made more history in 2011 when he earned his NHRA Pro Stock competition license and qualified for that year’s Gatornationals. He lost by 0.004 seconds in the first round to future four-time NHRA Pro Stock champion Erica Enders.
