Technology leader, sponsor, motorsports media magnate, track owner
Perhaps no one has done more to support the full breadth of American motorsports in the 21st century than Forrest Lucas. The Indianan started Lucas Oil Products, Inc. in 1988. Soon he began offering high-performance products to grassroots racers and things took off from there. Lucas Oil has sponsored teams and races at the highest NASCAR levels, IndyCar, NHRA and H1 Unlimited hydroplane racing, but its support for other series has been even more crucial. To date, the company sponsored the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Lucas Oil MLRA Series, Lucas Oil Modified Series, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, Lucas Oil ULMA Series and Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League. It also sponsors air racers, drag racers, drifters, motorcycle racers, Monster Trucks and Lucas Oil Raceway, formerly Indianapolis Raceway Park. Lucas also created the MAVTV motorsports television network and subscription video-on-demand service Lucas Oil Racing TV to promote American motorsports.
